More than half of all patients with stage 3A rectal cancers will be cured with preoperative chemotherapy and radiation followed by surgery.
The chemotherapy treatments are very tolerable relative to other chemothearpy treatments and typically, in the form of pills (Xeloda, capecitabine), and don’t typically cause hair loss or vomiting.
It’s important to take the treatment now. The management of uncontrolled rectal cancer is horrendous and the quality of life terrible is terrible due to obstruction, bleeding and pain. There are few second chances at cure.
